
Shoppers may be shocked to discover that their card has been declined after next Monday.
New changes to bank cards, as from Monday March 14, mean retailers must check it’s you making the payment before they debit your card, reported Chronicle Live.
The changes will impact everyone who banks or makes purchases online as they will be subject to extra security checks in a bid to make transactions safer.

Customers will be sent a code by their bank — usually to their mobile phone — when they buy something online, and they must enter this at the checkout for the payment to be approved.
And if they can’t verify the transaction is genuine – or the retailer is not set up to make the checks – the card payment may be declined.
Lloyds bank sent a warning over to their customers earlier this month which said: “To help keep you and your accounts safer from fraud when you use your debit or credit card to shop online, we’ll ask you more often to confirm it’s really you making the payment.
“You might have already seen this happening when you shop online, and it’ll happen more often from now on.
“As some retailers may not be ready for the changes yet, you may sometimes see a declined transaction when shopping online over the next few months.
