An Australian mum-of-seven has revealed the chain of events that led to her losing control of her Facebook group, which has more than 370,000 members.
Joelle is the founder and was the sole administrator of the incredibly popular Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia Facebook group.
Since creating the group six years ago, she has “spent many hours daily” building it into a “supportive and inspiring community” for hundreds of thousands of Australians.
But Joelle said that all came crashing down during the night of January 17 when she woke to feed her baby and discovered that her Facebook account had been deactivated and her group had been stolen by hackers.
In the weeks that have followed, Joelle said she’s learned that the Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia group had been sold off to a third party for $3000.
Facebook is currently reviewing Joelle’s case, and she is hoping that her profile will be restored and that her group will be returned to her.
Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au, Joelle said she believes the hackers are from Afghanistan and Turkey and says she has been completely blindsided by ordeal.
“It was the middle of the night on the 17th of January, around 2am when I got up to feed my baby and checked my phone,” she explained.
