
The Tinder Swindler is a Netflix documentary based on a true story of a group of women, who think they have fallen in love until they realize that they have potentially been conned out of millions. The project was directed by Felicity Morris and is set to air on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
The Tinder Swindler Premise
We are introduced to the story of Cecilie Fjellhoy, a graduate student from Norway that has found herself living in London, in a life devoid of any romance or friendship.
So as some of you would do, she decides to join a dating app, specifically Tinder, in the hope of finding a suitable match. During the course of that search, she comes across Simon Leviev.
Not many can combine beauty and brains, but he has managed to do just that when it comes to Simon. Things escalate very quickly, as she is introduced to the finer things in life, with private jets becoming a thing of the norm.
But beneath the veneer of romance is a man who has many layers, some of which raise significant alarm bells. First, he is the son of billionaire Lev Leviev. The latter just so happens to be trading in the business of diamonds. That explains a lot, then.
The work is also ‘complicated’, to say the least. So what does Simon do? Well, to help him out a little, Cecilie gets a credit card to pay for things that Simon needs, all in the name of avoiding any of his ‘enemies’, of course.
She is now his employee and on the payroll, thus justifying the increasing credit limit on her…
