As this COVID-19 pandemic continues, I realize that I haven’t worn pants in about two years. Don’t get the wrong idea; I haven’t gone full Winnie the Pooh with my attire. I simply mean that almost every day my uniform involves a pair of comfortable leggings. During this pandemic, we aren’t going to too many places and when we are we’re casually dressed and wearing masks. I’ve given myself license to not wear fancy clothes, to not wear makeup and to not care. It’s rather liberating. 

Yet, it’s also isolating, when my boys go off to school and activities and my husband goes to work. I have become a literal stay-at-home mom, relegated mostly to the confines of these four walls unless I wish to venture out for fresh air and exercise, fresh produce or takeout food, or fresh conversation with friends. Most business and social interactions these days occur through screens. We seek camaraderie and intellectual stimulation, in sisterhoods, brotherhoods and common networks.
