The Alberta RCMP are sharing safety tips to keep residents from becoming victims of fraud.

In support of the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association’s Fraud Prevention Month, the RCMP will be sharing tips and tools on fraud prevention throughout March. The ACCPA uses the annual campaign to educate Albertans on the various ways fraudulent activity can directly affect the public.
The RCMP is encouraging residents follow the hashtag #FPM2022 on their preferred social media platform for access to fraud prevention resources all month long.
“Educating yourself on how to identify fraudulent activity is crucial. Today, with more and more online financial platforms and digital payment systems, there is increasing opportunity for scammers to get the better of you,” said Cpl. Sean Milne, Alberta RCMP Provincial Economic Crime Team. “We want to equip Albertans with the tools to be able to spot a scam and protect themselves, so that they may avoid any potential risk to their personal finances or information.”
This year, the ACCPA and the RCMP will touch on cryptocurrency scams, identity theft, a myriad of online scams, business fraud scams, and mass marketing and phone scams.
