I am hoping that you can use your clout to help our local scout group, which was scammed out of £5,352 by fraudsters making payments out of the group’s Lloyds charity bank account.
Our elderly treasurer, who had been having broadband problems, was called by someone claiming to be from BT, passing him on to a “senior security colleague” who offered help with his computer and took him through his online banking security, offering advice.
Later he discovered that money had been transferred out of the Lloyds account and his personal NatWest account. He immediately contacted Lloyds and NatWest to try to stop the payments. NatWest was able to recover his personal money but Lloyds was unable to recover the group’s £5,352.
