LANSING, MI – A Michigan man is facing a civil lawsuit for allegedly creating a fake Facebook account and using it to promote the sale of blank COVID-19 vaccination cards in a mom’s group, the Michigan Department of Attorney General announced.
Christopher Holland is accused of creating a fake account under the name of Kristin Holliday, joining the Mom2MomSwap-Macomb County Facebook page, and attempting to sell blank COVID-19 vaccination cards, according to a news release.
The cards were advertised in cardholders for $25 each plus $9 for shipping, according to court documents.
It appears to have been a money-for-nothing scheme, the AG’s office said previously.

Nessel’s office began investigating this scam in August when it filed a petition in Macomb County Circuit Court to begin an investigation aimed at identifying the person behind the fake account. On Sept. 3, the court issued an order that allowed the AG’s office to lean on Facebook and internet providers for information about the account. Holland was eventually identified.
The civil action, which can be viewed here, includes the following requests of the court:
- Declare that Holland engaged in unlawful conduct in violation of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act (MCPA) and permanently ban him, whether acting directly or through any person, entity, or other device, from engaging in conduct in violation of the MCPA.
