BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Police have initiated an inquiry into an alleged ‘scam’ in recruitment of nurses and paramedical staff by Gwalior medical college authorities.
Notices have been sent to the college authorities seeking their explanation. The probe started following a complaint made by Vyapam whistle-blower Ashish Chaturvedi.
“It’s a huge scam. State has not taken a lesson from the previous scams yet,” claims Chaturvedi.
Earlier, an internal audit by the government had detected massive irregularities in the recruitment of nurses in government medical colleges at Gwalior and Datia.
Around 500 nurses were recruited in these two colleges through an exam conducted by MP online.
State medical education department had written a letter to the divisional commissioner expressing concern on the matter, which is now being raised by Vyapam whistleblower Ashish Chaturvedi as well.
He said admissions have been made in stark defiance of the norms. “The SC/ST category candidates have been selected in the general category. Many of them have the same numbers, which is causing more suspicion. This has to be investigated so that deserving candidates can get the job,” he said.
“One of the deans has given a funny response saying that leftovers would be given a chance on priority basis in 2029. A candidate who is 30 would cross the eligibility criteria after a decade. This is a scam,” said Chaturvedi. He has submitted a complaint with the Lokayukta for in-depth…
