FRANKLIN, WI — A resident recently received a scam call from someone claiming who was they were police, insisting they needed to pay money to resolve a matter after they “missed” jury duty at the Franklin Police Department, police say.
The call was a scam, the Franklin Police Department said in a Facebook post pointing out that there was no such thing as jury duty at the Franklin Police Department.
A call back number that the resident provided had a voicemail claiming it is the Franklin Police Department, police said in the post.

Police advised people should not give out their credit card information or hand out gift card codes with these calls, and if you are ever in doubt about the authenticity of a call, you should contact your local jurisdiction non-emergency number.
