Bhopal: Union minister for commerce and industry Piyush Goyal on Saturday said India and the UAE have signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
“People in gems and jewellery sector will benefit the most from this agreement. An international show of gems and jewellery is presently on in Mumbai. By coincidence, the inauguration was yesterday,” Goyal said speaking to the reproters here on Saturday.
“They are extremely enthusiastic because we all know the importance of jewelry in the UAE. India’s workmanship is so good that we can benefit tremendously from it,” the Union minister said.
Goyal said that the jewellery craftsmen of Madhya Pradesh should also join the endeavor. “I am going to Mumbai from here and will tell them to look at what is good in Madhya Pradesh so it can be exported,” he said.
Goyal said that the UAE plans to invest Rs 5 lakh crore in India, the biggest investment so far. He said it has been made possible because of the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There would be no import duties for products going from India to the UAE.
Goyal said the ABG Shipyard bank loan scam took place between 2005 and 2012. When Banks declared these loans as NPAs, the Congress government restructured them and increased the loans.
“Our government is taking action on the big and influential. During Congress regime, the country’s finances were misused. We have made laws against the absconding defaulters also,” he said.
