A Flint man is in hot water after the Federal government alleges that he used a stolen identity to defraud several dealerships across the state to the total of 15 vehicles worth about $201,000.
One of those dealerships was Automania in Dearborn Heights.
Authorities say that on Jan. 10, Eddie E. Hendrickson bought a 2018 Dodge Charger. The car was bought fraudulently with a stolen social security number. He never made a payment on the $36,468.70 loan.
That was the fifth loan he had gotten for a vehicle since Dec. 23, 2019. There were also eight more loans up to Feb. 18, 2020.
In all he got loans for 15 vehicles from nine different dealerships in the two month span, totalling $201,080.12 in loans.
The loans were from all over the state. In addition to the Dearborn Heights fraud, there were:
•two 2020 Polaris Sportsman 570 ATVs from Shiawassee Sports Center in Birch Run, totaling $17,563.08
•a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Brighton, totaling $21,658
•two 2020 Polaris Outlaw ATVs from Shiawassee Sports Center, totaling $7,439.88
•a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel from Champion Chrysler, totaling $26,267.64
•a 2019 Dodge Charger from Extreme Dodge in Jackson, totaling $36,186
•two 2019 Honda ATVs on a credit card that was issued at Genthe Power Sport in Southgate. He also bought a 2019 Honda motorcycle via a Honda Finance credit application, with the total loss being $17,637.32
