AMD RDNA3 confirmed to be a hybrid of 5nm and 6nm nodes

AMD’s Infinity Data Fabric Silicon Design Engineer has confirmed through its Linkedin profile that the next generation Navi 3X architecture is to utilize 5nm and 6nm nodes. 

Earlier this week AMD CEO made first comments this year on RDNA3 consumer graphics architecture. The company is now set to launch the first Navi 3X GPUs by the end of this year alongside its new Zen4 “Raphael” CPU architecture. AMD has not yet confirmed the fabrication nodes for these new GPUs, although most rumors seem to suggest it is a hybrid of 5nm and 6nm nodes.

It seems that those rumors have finally been confirmed by an AMD employee who now lists these new GPUs on his Linkedin profile. Not only does he list each of the Navi 3X GPUs, but also the nodes each of them use. According to his profile, Navi 31 and Navi 32 are to utilize 6nm and 5nm nodes, while Navi 33 is 6nm. This indirectly confirms the rumors that Navi 33 will be the only monolithic GPU in the series.

Interestingly, the profile also mentions MI300, which is a successor to Instinct MI200 data-center accelerator, AMD’s first Multi-Chip-Module (MCM) design GPU. Not much is known about this GPU yet, except for the fact that it might compete against NVIDIA Hopper and Intel Ponte Vecchio.
