BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio
Property damage, Elmbrook Drive: On Jan. 12, an Elmbrook Drive resident called police after returning home to find a bullet hole in the front window of her house.
The officer observed the bullet damaged her blinds, as well as two sliding mirror doors and a plastic bag of clothing before leaving a hole in the wall and entering a second bedroom.
The bullet, which didn’t penetrate the exterior wall, was found on a white rug. Regarding the trajectory of the bullet, the officer said it appeared to be shot from the street in front of her home.
Luckily, she wasn’t home at the time. A neighbor did report hearing a loud explosion the night before.
When asked if there was anyone who she suspected of shooting a bullet into her home, the woman mentioned a family member related to an inheritance dispute.
The woman noted her nephew was caught by a home surveillance camera arriving at the residence and pointing at the home. Police are investigating.
Gift card scam, Walling Road: On Jan. 5, a Walling Road resident called police after discovering they were the victim of a gift card scam.
An arriving officer talked to the resident, who said she believed someone “hacked” into her iPhone and iPad earlier in the day.
The former had no battery power, the latter wouldn’t logon to internet. The officer did note the woman couldn’t remember the iPad password.
As far as the scam, she had a friend give her the number for Apple, which it turned out wasn’t correct.
