By Najiyya Budaly (March 9, 2022, 12:22 PM GMT) — Technology giants must take responsibility for tackling fraudulent adverts that appear on their online platforms, the government has said after coming under pressure from MPs, regulators and consumer rights groups.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports said late on Tuesday that social media websites and search engines such as Meta — the parent company of Facebook Inc. — and Google LLC will be forced to crack down on fraudsters who buy adverts on their platforms.
