In the United States, about 45,000,000 Americans have student loan debt.  Recently, there has been some very minor movement toward forgiveness however only according to specific, and very limited criteria.  All of that is to say, that if you get an email that has an address like the one I found in my inbox, say, goodgollywatchamacalit@outlook.com you can probably rest assured neither the watchamacalit nor the goodgolly have good intentions.

For starters, while it is true Navient settled a claim against it for being naughty, it is said that if you qualify, they will contact you in writing by July.  Since we can reasonably conclude that Navient is not using throwaway email addresses written by a kitty walking across a keyboard, I believe that possibility can be ruled out.

Cat at keyboard: I have come to the conclusion that/My brain has too many tabs open.

There are also forgiveness programs being extended in the context of public service, but that is expected to affect less than 500,000 borrowers.

That in mind, this is the email I received recently, that I took straight away to be spam and wanted to let you know about because while this one is easily detectable, there may well be more sophisticated versions of this ploy.
